The NDC reorganization process slated to kick off on Saturday, June 20, 2026, has been put on hold in 2 out of 15 constituencies in the Upper East Region.

According to a release from the Upper East Regional Secretariat, elections and branch executive vetting in Garu and Bawku Central have been suspended following petitions from some individuals.

The petitioners claim the online system could not help them register their members or themselves, and as a result, their names were not found on the NDC national dashboard. Others have alleged that the Member of Parliament for Garu, Dr. Thomas Anaba, was behind the omission of their names from the dashboard.

Speaking to Atungo Iddrisu Kassim, the Elections Director for Garu, Issah Amoli, highlighted how the process was conducted. He said nominations were strictly online after executives were trained on the system.

Richard Awinbilla Mbawin, an aspirant, expressed frustration about the development. According to him, opportunity was given to everyone who wished to contest and all were educated on the process.

He therefore called on regional and national executives to pay attention to the matter, warning that denying party structures will affect the party in the future.

He indicate that over 1,000 people filed for the branch executive elections across 87 polling stations in Garu constituency.

The NDC regional secretariat is yet to provide further details on when the suspended elections in Garu and Bawku Central will be held.
