More than 1,500 homes have been inundated by severe flooding across the Amenfi areas of the Western Region following days of heavy rainfall, leaving thousands of residents displaced and properties destroyed.
The floods, triggered by the overflow of major rivers including the Tano and Samre, have affected several communities in the area. Reports indicate that numerous buildings have collapsed, while residents have been forced to seek shelter in safer locations as floodwaters continue to wreak havoc. Local authorities and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) are assessing the extent of the damage and coordinating relief efforts for affected families.
Residents are calling for urgent government intervention, relief supplies, and long-term flood mitigation measures to address the recurring disaster.
