Let’s intensify the See Something, Say Something Campaign to avoid potential terrorist attacks – Coordinator

 

Madam Akosua Danquah Ntim Sekyere, the National Coordinator of the “See Something, Say Something” Campaign, initiated by the Ministry of National Security 2 years ago to raise awareness of activities that could threaten the nation’s peace and security, has urged Ghanaians to remain vigilant and report any unusual occurrences in their surroundings to prevent potential terrorist attacks.

 

During an interview on GIFTs FM, Mad Akosua Danquah Ntim Sekyere urged Ghanaians to promptly report any suspicious activities to security personnel or call the toll-free number 999. She emphasized the importance of seeking explicit information from any visitor to prevent unforeseen incidents that could jeopardize our peace and security.

 

Madam Akosua Danquah elaborated on various situations that require prompt security intervention. She emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant and reporting any unusual or suspicious activities without delay. According to her, prompt communication with security personnel or community opinion leaders is crucial for ensuring swift action to enhance the overall security of the nation.

 

Madam Akosua Danquah implored Ghanaians to refrain from making prank calls to the toll-free number, emphasizing that it is intended for crucial and emergency purposes.She expressed profound concern over the frequency with which individuals, particularly men, call to share jokes and engage in frivolous conversations, a troubling issue that, in her view, hampers their work.

She emphasized that the See Something, Say Something Campaign has been helpful since its inception, underscoring the importance of adhering to its purpose and refraining from making prank calls, which could one day impede a genuine emergency.

 

On His Part, Captain Ishmeal Yeboaah Frimpong (Analyst, National counter terrorism fusion Centre, Head Operations officer for Ministry of National Security) urged Ghanaians to promptly report any unusual activities to security personnel or community leaders, noting that individuals might feel apprehensive about alerting the police to suspicious incidents. Therefore, he encouraged us to utilize the toll-free number 999 for our safety and security.

 

He revealed that the toll-free number features a fundamental set of questions, structured according to the SALUTE report format.The ‘S’ represents the Size and Specific characteristics of the case to be reported, ‘A’ stands for Activity, denoting the action being reported, ‘L’ signifies Location, indicating where the report originates, ‘U’ refers to Uniform, focusing on the attire of the individual performing the activity, ‘T’ denotes the Time of the incident, and ‘E’ signifies Equipment used in the activity.

 

He said adhering to the SALUTE format ensures a comprehensive and detailed account of the report.
