TEIN -UEW Empowers Women Through Political Seminar.

The TEIN – UEW has encouraged women to actively participate in politics and leadership, stressing that women are no longer confined to traditional kitchen roles but can make meaningful contributions to national development.

The Political Women’s Seminar, held on the university campus, brought together distinguished speakers, including Hon. Dr. Betty Krosbi Mensah, Hon.Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, mp Awutu Senya East, Vivian Asante Deputy Masloc CEO, Mad Naa Ayelley Hammond, Deputy TEIN coordinator Greater Accra. They shared their personal journeys from grassroots activism to leadership positions, urging participants to remain resilient in the face of challenges and to work diligently toward achieving their political and leadership ambitions.

Speaking to tv xyz news reporter Alex Donkoh TEIN Secretary for TEIN-UEW, Nimbatara Gracious Suondimah said, women have consistently demonstrated their capabilities and impact in society. He encouraged female students to take inspiration from the seminar and confidently pursue leadership opportunities. He also commended Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s leadership, describing it as encouraging and a source of inspiration for young women.

Nimbatara Gracious Suondimah who is also deputy communication officer aspirant for Assin South Constituency noted that women are no longer defined by outdated stereotypes that limit them to household responsibilities. He explained that the seminar was organized to empower women to venture into politics despite the obstacles they may encounter. According to him, the personal experiences shared by the guest speakers demonstrated that perseverance, determination, and hard work are essential to success. He appealed to women, particularly those in tertiary institutions across Ghana, to prepare themselves for leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to national development.

The Women Commissioner for TEIN Harriet Afesi, also thanked the guest speakers for inspiring and empowering young women to embrace leadership and help bridge the gender gap in politics and decision-making. She described the seminar as one of the most memorable moments of her life, saying the powerful testimonies had motivated participants to believe in their potential.

Afesi emphasized that a woman’s place is no longer limited to the kitchen, adding that women are capable of serving in leadership positions and making significant contributions to society. She encouraged women across tertiary institutions to actively pursue leadership opportunities and expressed appreciation to the speakers for dedicating their time to mentor and inspire the students.

The seminar was attended by TEIN – UEW members, women organizers, and students, many of whom described the event as insightful, inspiring, and empowering. Participants commended the organizers and speakers for equipping young women with the confidence and motivation to pursue careers in politics and leadership.
