The Chief Imam of Axim in the Nzema East Municipality, Alhaji Abdul Abdullah, has called on Ghanaians, especially Muslims, to use the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha celebration as a platform to promote peace, unity and national development.

According to him, Ghana continues to enjoy peace and stability compared to some countries in the sub-region, and it is the responsibility of every citizen to help preserve the harmony the nation is experiencing.

Speaking at the Eid-ul-Adha festivities, Alhaji Abdul Abdullah urged Muslims to reflect on the true meaning of the celebration, which includes sacrifice, obedience, love and peaceful coexistence.

He advised Muslim youths to stay away from social vices that could destroy their future and negatively affect society. The Chief Imam specifically cautioned against the abuse of drugs, including marijuana smoking, armed robbery, prostitution and other deviant behaviours.

Alhaji Abdul Abdullah noted that the increasing involvement of some young people in criminal activities remains a major concern for community leaders and religious authorities.

He encouraged the youth to remain disciplined, focus on education and skills training, and respect the laws of the country to become responsible citizens.

The Axim Chief Imam also called on parents to closely monitor their children and provide proper moral and religious guidance to help shape their lives positively.

He further appealed to political leaders, traditional authorities and religious groups to continue preaching peace and tolerance before, during and after the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.

Alhaji Abdul Abdullah wished all Muslims a peaceful and successful Eid-ul-Adha celebration and prayed for continued peace, unity and prosperity for Ghana.
