The 2028 Campaign Director for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, says he remains “unbroken” and more determined than ever after being released on bail following four days in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 15, Mr. Aboagye thanked supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for their support during his detention, insisting that efforts to intimidate him had failed.

“I am out. I am unbroken. And I am more ready than ever. Thank you, patriots,” he wrote.

Mr. Aboagye said his arrest came a day after he announced his intention to contest for the position of NPP National Communications Director. He accused some individuals of spreading what he described as a false narrative about the circumstances surrounding his detention.

He maintained that the truth would eventually come out.

“A false narrative was put out about my arrest, but Ghanaians are not fools, and neither are the good people of the New Patriotic Party. The facts and the truth will prevail,” he stated.

He also denied reports suggesting that EOCO questioned him about an alleged GH¢55 million matter during his engagement with the office.

“For the records: There was no discussion of any GH¢55 million with me by EOCO. None,” he stressed.

The aspiring NPP National Communications Director expressed appreciation to party supporters who demonstrated and called for his release, saying their actions boosted his morale while he was in custody.

He added that the experience had strengthened his resolve rather than weakened him.

“If the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly,” he said.

Mr. Aboagye reaffirmed his commitment to contesting for the NPP’s Communications Director position, saying he remains focused on contributing to the party’s communication strategy ahead of future elections.

He further thanked his legal team, party leadership, and supporters for their backing.

“This journey is no longer mine alone. This is ours. We move stronger, louder, together,” he concluded.

Mr. Aboagye was arrested by EOCO at the Accra International Airport alongside the former accountant of the IMCCoD Secretariat, Gerald Appiah, over alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities involving about GH¢55 million during his tenure as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation.

He has since been granted bail of GH¢50 million with three sureties, two of which were justified.
