I Have Achieved Tremendous Growth in the Municipality – Hon. Nana Ebbah

By Joseph Nana Yaw Cobbina
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wassa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah, has highlighted significant developmental achievements recorded during his tenure, stating that the municipality has experienced tremendous growth under his leadership.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, Hon. Nana Ebbah noted that since assuming office, he has personally been involved in revenue mobilisation for the assembly to help improve internally generated funds.
He also revealed that the municipal assembly block, which had been in a poor state for several years, has been renovated to improve the working environment for staff.
According to him, he supported the maintenance works on the Adesum Bridge at Gyaboode on the Saaman road to improve transportation in the area.
Hon. Nana Ebbah further disclosed that he facilitated the installation of a 100KVA electricity transformer to serve the assembly and communities in the southwest of the municipality to ensure reliable power supply. Additional transformers were also provided for the Appiah Nkwanta and Adamanso communities.
In the health sector, the MCE said he supported the Municipal Health Directorate with GHS 20,000 to strengthen disease surveillance, contact tracing, and the transportation of samples. The support, he explained, was aimed at helping control the spread of MPox within the municipality.
He also provided financial assistance and logistical support, including vehicles, to facilitate the smooth conduct of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the municipality.
Hon. Nana Ebbah stated that through the Department of Agriculture and the Cocoa Health and Extension Division (CHED), about 25,000 bags of oil palm seedlings, 35,000 coconut seedlings, and 12,000 bags of fertiliser were distributed to farmers to boost agricultural production.
He further indicated that major repairs were carried out on several assembly vehicles, including those with registration numbers GT 8511-19, GN 9825-13, and a vehicle belonging to the Department of Agriculture.
On infrastructure development, the MCE said the assembly undertook major road improvement works, including the 3km Wassa Gyedua–Wassa Asuaso road, of which 1km has been completed, while 2km remains under construction.
He added that the 3.5km Wassa Akropong Farmers–Wassa Grumisa road network has also been rehabilitated.
Additionally, the municipality now has a Police Barrier and a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) office at Wassa Akropong.
The assembly also constructed drainage infrastructure, including the extension of three 900mm culverts and three 1200mm pipe culverts along the Saamang Junction–Nsuam road.
In the area of education and social support, Hon. Nana Ebbah revealed that he is currently sponsoring three medical students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)—one from Asuagya Krobo and two from Wassa Akropong. He also supports two law students in their academic pursuits.
He further donated GHS 10,000 to support victims of a devastating rainstorm at Suhyenso, which destroyed several homes.
Additionally, he donated GHS 6,000 to the Wassa Akropong Government Hospital to repair glass windows that were damaged during a protest by some youth in the area.
Hon. Nana Ebbah also noted that through his lobbying efforts and strong relationships with members of the business community, he secured a 100KVA electricity transformer valued at GHS 12,000 at no cost to the assembly to serve the northwestern part of the municipality.
He emphasized that these interventions demonstrate his commitment to improving infrastructure, agriculture, education, health, and social welfare across the Wassa Amenfi East Municipality
