The Ghana Football Association has called on Ghanaians to respect the decision of head coach Otto Addo following the omission of Andre Ayew from the squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany.

The exclusion of the experienced forward has sparked widespread debate among fans, many of whom have questioned why the long-serving Black Stars captain was left out of the 26-man squad. However, the GFA, through its Communications Director Henry Asante Twum, has emphasized that squad selection remains the sole responsibility of the head coach and must be respected.

According to the Association, Otto Addo must be given the freedom to build his team without external pressure as he prepares the Black Stars for future competitions. The friendlies are expected to serve as a key opportunity for the coach to assess new players and refine his squad.

Despite his omission, Andre Ayew remains active at club level. The 36-year-old currently plays for NAC Breda in the Netherlands, where he has been featuring regularly since joining the club. He has made a number of appearances in the ongoing season and has already found the back of the net, underlining his match fitness and continued relevance on the pitch.

Ayew’s consistent involvement at club level has further fueled discussions about his absence, with some supporters insisting his experience and leadership could still be valuable to the national team setup.

Nonetheless, the GFA has urged fans to rally behind the Black Stars and support the technical team’s decisions as Otto Addo continues to rebuild and shape a competitive squad for the future.
