The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a warning for thunderstorms and the potential for flooding across parts of the country.

In a statement released on Tuesday, March 31, GMet reported that two rainstorms forming along the borders of Togo and Benin are expected to merge and move into Ghana. This system, along with locally formed rain-bearing clouds, is likely to bring thunderstorms and varying levels of rainfall from the afternoon into the evening.

The coastal, middle, transition, and some northern regions are expected to be impacted. GMet cautioned that low-lying areas remain at risk of flooding, while strong winds may accompany the storms.

The forecasted rainfall is expected to affect the following areas:

From 1600 UTC to 2000 UTC: Ho, Jasikan, Kpandai, Dambai, Salaga, Tamale, Kumasi, Obuasi, and Nkawkaw.

From 1900 UTC to 0100 UTC: The storm will move towards coastal areas, including Accra, Prampram, Ashaiman, Aflao, Aburi, and surrounding communities.

From 2100 UTC to 0300 UTC: The system will extend to areas like Sunyani, Winneba, Cape Coast, Tarkwa, and Axim.

GMet is urging residents, especially in flood-prone areas, to take necessary precautions as the weather system moves across the country.
