Twenty-eight beneficiaries of the Berean Assemblies of God Child and Youth Development Centre under Compassion Ghana have successfully graduated after completing various vocational and skills training programmes at Enyan Denkyira in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region.

The graduates, who joined the Compassion Ghana programme as children more than 20 years ago have been nurtured and supported through their educational journey and subsequently trained in different vocational skills based on their individual interests and talents.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Programme Director, Madam Wilhelmina Moses Appiah, explained that Compassion Ghana’s mission is to support vulnerable children from childhood through adulthood by providing educational opportunities, mentorship, and skills training to help them become self-reliant.

According to her, some of the beneficiaries have also been enrolled in various tertiary institutions, while others have been equipped with vocational skills such as dressmaking, hairdressing, carpentry, catering, and other trades.

Madam Wilhelmina disclosed that the organisation had provided the graduates with various tools and machines to enable them establish their own businesses and become financially independent.

She encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the equipment and utilise the knowledge and skills they have acquired to improve their lives and contribute positively to society.

Addressing the graduates, the Pastor in charge of the Berean Assemblies of God Child and Youth Development Centre, Rev. Thomson Gyambra, advised the beneficiaries not to sell the equipment that had been freely given to them.

He stressed that the tools and machines were provided to help them start their own businesses and create employment opportunities for themselves and others.

Rev. Gyambra also called on Ghanaians to stop associating vocational and skills training with academic failure, noting that technical and vocational education has become an important avenue for job creation and economic development.

He encouraged the youth to embrace skills training and entrepreneurship as a means of earning a decent living and reducing unemployment in the country.

The pastor further appealed to the government, corporate institutions, and philanthropists to support organisations such as Compassion Ghana in their efforts to care for needy and vulnerable children, especially those living on the streets.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Berean Assemblies of God Child and Youth Development Centre and Compassion Ghana for the support they had received over the years.

They promised to make good use of the equipment provided and pledged to train other young people in their communities in order to help reduce poverty and unemployment in the country.

The ceremony ended with the presentation of certificates and vocational equipment to the graduates, marking another milestone in Compassion Ghana’s mission of transforming lives and empowering young people to become productive members of society.
