Speaking at the ceremony, the District Chief Executive for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, Hon. Olivia Bentil, said the three-unit classroom block was part of efforts to improve education infrastructure in the area following her appointment by the President.

She explained that the facility will serve kindergarten, primary, and JHS pupils, adding that her background as a teacher motivated her to improve the poor conditions she had witnessed in some schools.

Hon. Bentil stressed that education is key and every child deserves access to quality learning. She also mentioned the need to improve healthcare facilities to support the development of communities within the district.

The Member of Parliament for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, Hon. Kobina Ghansah, commended Hon. Olivia Bentil for bringing the development project to the community and described it as an important investment for the people.

He emphasized that the facility belongs to the country and therefore called on teachers, the headteacher, and community members to ensure proper maintenance of the building to enable it to serve generations of learners.

Hon. Ghansah also advised students to be responsible in their use of social media, reminding them that anything shared online leaves a lasting footprint and must therefore be handled with caution.

Touching on the recent flooding situation in the country, Hon. Olivia Bentil expressed appreciation to government for the measures being taken to address the challenge, but urged citizens not to relax after interventions are provided.

She said continuous efforts are needed from everyone to prevent future occurrences and called on residents to actively participate in sanitation activities.
