The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Asikasu No1 R/C Primary School, in the Dormaa Central Municipality, has called on the Dormaa Central branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), particularly the Member of Parliament, to urgently fulfill the promise made during the 2024 campaign to renovate the school’s building.

In an interview with GIFTs News, the PTA Chairman, Mr. Kwame Kumi, stated that the Member of Parliament, along with party executives, had pledged to renovate the school building after donating 100 bags of cement, which facilitated the completion of an unfinished kindergarten structure.

Mr. Kumi emphasized that this was the first occasion on which the residents of Asikasu cast their votes in favor of the NDC party, largely due to the cement donation and the commitment to renovate their primary school building, stressing that the MP has spent one and a half years in office without taking any steps to initiate the renovation work. He therefore issued a reminder regarding the deteriorating condition of the school building, which poses a risk of collapse during learning periods, which could endanger both students and teachers.

He underscored the necessity for immediate action to fulfill the renovation promise, thereby averting potential hazards.

The PTA Chairman stressed that the community’s support for the NDC party was contingent upon the assurances given, and he urged the party to honor its commitments to the people of Asikasu, in line with the adage, “Hands go, hands come,” to ensure continued support in future elections.

Rev. Father Felix Boamah, the Parish Priest of St. Dominic Savio Parish in Dormaa Ahenkro, expressed his concern regarding the deteriorating condition of the Asikasu No. 1 R/C Primary School’s infrastructure. He emphasized the urgent need for attention and called upon the relevant authorities and philanthropists to assist in renovating the school to prevent any potential risks to those who use the building.

Some of the students expressed their concerns, noting that the school’s roof leaks, which forces them to leave early when it rains during lessons. Furthermore, the absence of a ceiling results in extreme heat during sunny periods, adversely affecting their studies and posing significant health risks hence they are appealing to the Member of Parliament to fulfill his promises and ensure the school’s renovation is completed, thereby providing a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
