Ghana’s entertainment industry came together in mourning on Saturday, May 30, as actors, musicians, and public figures attended a one-week vigil for the late actress and entrepreneur Beverly Ama Afaglo-Baah. The event was held at the Green Flavour Events Centre in Community 9, Tema, with guests dressed in black and red to honor her memory.
The evening featured worship sessions, scripture readings, musical performances, heartfelt tributes, and a sermon, reflecting the profound impact Beverly had on Ghana’s creative arts community.
A notable turnout of industry heavyweights paid their respects, including Nana Ama McBrown, John Dumelo, Joselyn Dumas, Nikki Samonas, Vivian Jill Lawrence, Salma Mumin, Vicky Zugah, Kalybos, Selassie Ibrahim, Gloria Osei Sarfo, Roselyn Ngissah, Portia Asare, Pascal Amanfo, Salinko, Eunice Banini, and James Gardiner. Gospel musician Empress Gifty Adorye and secular artiste Nana Boroo were also present.
The vigil reached an emotional high with a torch-lighting ceremony and the release of balloons into the night sky, leaving many visibly moved. The testimonial session was particularly poignant as Beverly’s brother, Caleb Afaglo, delivered a tribute on behalf of the family, bringing many attendees to tears.
Beverly Afaglo-Baah was married to Eugene Baah, famously known as Choirmaster of the music group Praye. The family has announced that her final funeral rites and state-assisted burial will take place on August 7, 2026.
