Gomoa Nyanyano, Central Region* – The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two persons alleged to be involved in landguard activities that have been terrorising residents and landlords at Kassim City in Gomoa Nyanyano, within the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The arrests followed a police operation that led to the capture of the alleged leader of the group, identified only as “UN”, and another suspect from their hideout.
According to police sources, one of the suspects has been remanded into police custody for two weeks by the Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court, while the alleged leader, UN, is expected to be arraigned before the court as investigations continue.

The arrests come in the wake of reports by residents and landlords of Kassim City, who complained of repeated attacks allegedly carried out by landguards in the area. During one of the reported incidents, a resident sustained critical injuries.
Following appeals by residents for police intervention, law enforcement authorities intensified investigations, leading to the arrest of the two suspects.
Speaking to the media, the Convener of the Kassim City Landlords Association, Mr. Samuel Derla Kwetsu, commended the police for their swift response and efforts in addressing the security concerns in the community.
He, however, urged the police to pursue the matter diligently and ensure that justice is served without compromise.
Some residents and landlords also expressed appreciation to the police for the arrests and called on the authorities to ensure that the suspects face the full rigours of the law if found guilty.
