The Deputy Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources and Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West Constituency, Hon. Gizella Tetteh Agbotui, has disclosed plans to ensure that between 60 and 70 percent of the youth in the constituency acquire vocational and technical skills through her flagship skill training programme, “Asumiapa.”
As part of the initiative, 31 young men and women graduated on Sunday, June 1, 2026, at Awutu Adawukwa after successfully completing training in dressmaking, hairdressing and other vocational trades.
The programme, which seeks to empower young people with employable skills, has already benefited many youth across the constituency. In addition to the training, beneficiaries are supported with start-up kits and equipment to help them establish their own businesses and become economically independent.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Hon. Gizella Tetteh Agbotui reaffirmed her commitment to youth empowerment, stating that her goal is to ensure that about 60 to 70 percent of the youth in the constituency receive skills training to improve their livelihoods and reduce unemployment.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Awutu Adawukwa, Nai Samuel Kofi Tawiah, commended the initiative and encouraged young people to embrace skills training as a pathway to self-reliance and economic growth.
He further urged government agencies, development partners and other stakeholders to continue investing in vocational and technical training programmes to support national development.
