The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Afigya Kwabre South, Patricia Pearl Ankrah, has assured residents that traffic challenges on major roads in the municipality will soon be addressed.
She gave the assurance at a town hall meeting held at Akrowa, organised by the Assembly in collaboration with community elders. Madam Ankrah said authorities are engaging relevant stakeholders to find lasting solutions to pressing issues affecting the area.
She explained that the meeting was to engage and educate the public on local governance and to showcase government development projects and programmes.
She emphasized the importance of collaboration between Assembly Members, chiefs and residents within their respective communities.
She urged Assembly Members to avoid discrimination and foster inclusivity in their duties.
Key concerns raised included poor road networks, traffic congestion and other infrastructure deficits impacting daily life in various communities.
The MCE appealed to traditional leaders to continue supporting Assembly Members to ensure effective governance and development at the local level.
In an interview with the media on the sidelines of the meeting, Madam Ankrah identified bad roads as a major cause of traffic congestion. She revealed that the Assembly was in talks with the sector minister to ensure that affected roads are rehabilitated.
She further disclosed plans to introduce additional buses to improve transportation and ensure the smooth movement of passengers to their destinations.
Madam Ankrah called on residents to remain calm and patient, assuring them that the government is committed to addressing the challenges confronting the district.
