The Ghanaian government has approved new visa waiver agreements with Zambia, the Maldives, and Antigua and Barbuda, aimed at enhancing travel opportunities and reinforcing diplomatic ties. The announcement was made by Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 22.

According to the Minister, Cabinet has granted approval for these agreements, which will simplify travel between Ghana and the three nations. The new arrangements will apply to all passport holders, including ordinary, service, and diplomatic passports.

Under the terms of the agreement, Ghanaians and citizens of Zambia, the Maldives, and Antigua & Barbuda will be able to visit each other’s countries for up to 30 days without needing a visa. The agreements will soon be presented to Parliament for ratification.

Minister Ablakwa further emphasized that the government is committed to pursuing additional visa waiver agreements while bolstering security measures around the issuance of Ghanaian passports.
