The 5th cohort graduation of Kayayei empowerment programme which facelift 620 women through skills training.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony the deputy CEO of NEIP Madam Abigail Swad Laryea, emphasizing that the cohort Kayayei Skills Empowerment Programme, was a vision initiated by Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana H.E.Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, which was recently celebrated in a grandstyle.
According to her, the initiative is aimed at empowering Kayayei through skills training and into the informal sector businesses.
Madam Laryea hinted that ever since the project was initiatived it has trained 3,000 women through various business modules, and also equip them through vocational skills.
The initiative, also helps the Kayayei to have economic independence and also regained their bride in the society.
In view of this, the Cohort Kayayei Empowerment Program are to undergo trainings, including soap and detergent making, baking, beads and jewellery making, décor, pedicure and manicure, and make-up artistry in just three weeks.
According to her, the programme provides each participants not only with skills but also equip them with tools to start their businesses in their various respective communities.
She reiterated to the fact even aside the tools each graduate also received a starter packs, along with an amount of GHC 1,000 to help them to begin their informal sector business.
She indicated that the project is to acquired a resilience future for our young women.
