Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, has voiced his determination to secure victories following a challenging start to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Black Stars, in pursuit of their fifth continental title, began their qualifying campaign on a sour note, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Angola at Baba Yara Stadium. They followed that disappointing result with a 1-1 draw against Niger in their second Group F match held in Berkane.
Speaking at the squad unveiling on Friday, October 4, Addo shared his frustration over the team’s inability to claim all six points from their initial encounters against the Palancras Negras and the Super Eagles. “I hate to lose games,” he emphasized. “I had hoped we would start our qualifiers positively, but I am disappointed with the outcome,” he admitted.
In preparation for the upcoming double-header against Sudan, Otto Addo has announced a 25-man squad. The Black Stars currently sit third in Group F and will begin training on Monday in Accra. They are set to face Sudan in the first leg on October 10 at the Accra Sports Stadium, followed by the return leg in Benina, Libya, on October 15.
With the pressure mounting, the team is focused on turning their fortunes around and making a strong statement in the qualifiers.
