There is no development without peace – NCCE Director states as he advocates for peace ahead of general elections
The Dormaa Central Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Elder Seth Broni, has urged Ghanaians to uphold peace and order before, during, and after the elections to foster national development. He emphasized that without peace, progress and development cannot be achieved, making it imperative for all stakeholders and political parties to ensure the maintenance of peace and order.
In promoting peace, he encouraged Ghanaians to be mindful of their words, to attentively listen and thoughtfully respond to others’ viewpoints. He implored us to respect one another so that peace may prevail in all our pursuits.
Elder Seth Broni implored Ghanaians to embrace tolerance and respect diverse perspectives, ensuring that transgressors are forgiven in the execution of our responsibilities. He asserted that such actions would foster peace and order, emphasizing that elections are fundamentally about decision-making; therefore, an individual’s choices should not incite discord or chaos among others.
He ultimately voiced his opposition to the rampant vote buying that has insidiously embedded itself as a norm within the electoral processes of the nation. He urged Ghanaians to remain unswayed by monetary incentives when making decisions at the ballot box, emphasizing that vote buying contravenes the laws of the land. Therefore, he implored citizens to adhere steadfastly to their convictions, free from the influence of politicians and political parties during decision making in elections.
