The only track record of Abronye DC is losing 11 Parliamentary seats in the Bono Region to NDC- Salia Malory

Mr. Salia Isah Malori, the Bono Regional Youth Coordinator for the campaign of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, has publicly criticized Abronye DC, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in response to Abronye’s earlier remarks suggesting that any polling station executive not supporting his candidate would face intimidation and had their names removed from the party Album ahead of their primaries.

Mr. Salia Malori underscored that the New Patriotic Party is not the property of any single individual, and therefore, Abronye does not have ownership within the party. Hence, his actions should be strongly condemned by the party leadership to maintain order within the Party set up. Additionally, Mr. Malori pointed out that Abronye’s sole track record as the Bono Regional Chairman has been the loss of all NPP seats in the Region to the NDC, with only one seat remaining for the NPP. Despite the hope that Abronye would alter his approach, Mr. Malori expressed disappointment, as Abronye has allegedly chosen to undermine the party at the national level after already causing harm at the regional level.

Mr. Salia Malory stated that during the 2023 primaries, despite the significant intimidation faced by Honorable Kennedy Agyapong, he remained resolute. He emphasized that elections result in either a victory or a loss and so following Ken Agyapong’s defeat in the 2023 primaries, his supporters united to campaign for the party in the general elections hence they have no intention of boycotting the campaign, even if Kennedy does not succeed in the upcoming primaries.

However, they are prepared to oppose any form of intimidation from certain self-serving individuals within the party, as similar intimidation previously led to the resignation of Honorable Alan Kyeremanteng from the party.

Finally, he mentioned that the NPP party is poised to witness a competition between the appointees and other leaders who have benefited from the party, and the grassroots members. He emphasized that appointees comprise only 5% of the total delegates, while the remaining 95% are grassroots members who are eager to select Kennedy Agyapong as their leader in the upcoming contest. He noted that next year’s contest will represent a shift from the traditional contest between the Danquah, Donbo, Busiah tradition and the grassroots faction.

He stressed that for the first time, the grassroots are presenting their candidate, Kennedy Agyapong, to contest in the primaries.
