Sub-chiefs must strive to clean their communities in support of Dormaahene’s Sanitation campaign – Chief of Agyemankrom Advocates

Baafour Yaw Agyemang Ababio, the Chief of Agyemankrom and the Awerempemhene of the Dormaa Traditional Council, has urged the sub-chiefs of the Dormaa Traditional Area to initiate regular clean-up exercises within their communities. He encourages them to engage their elders and community members to collectively support the Sanitation Policy of the Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Council, Osagyefo Oseadeayo Dr. Agyemang Badu II.

Baafour Yaw Agyemang Ababio announced his forthcoming support for the Dormaa traditional council by providing devices to aid in cleanup efforts. After observing the exercise alongside Osagyefo, he acknowledged the significant financial burden it entails. Hence, he urged the sub-chiefs to take initiative in maintaining cleanliness within their communities to mitigate the overall cost of these exercise.

He summoned the sub-chiefs to facilitate the mobilization of the youth in their communities to Dormaa Ahenkro, in order to lend their support to Osagyefo Oseadeayo Dr. Agyemang Badu II during his sanitation tour and cleanup initiative in surrounding communities to alleviate the financial strain of the cleanup exercise.

Baafour Yaw Agyemang Ababio implored the inhabitants of Dormaa Ahenkro and its neighboring communities to refrain from littering and urged each household and shop owner to procure a dustbin to maintain cleanliness in their homes and Dormaa Ahenkro at large.

He appealed to the citizens of Dormaa to act as vigilant guardians for the traditional council by reporting to Nananom anyone observed littering, so that severe penalties may be imposed as a deterrent to others. He emphasized that littering in an area cleansed by the Paramount Chief himself is a profound sign of disrespect to the authorities and Nananom.

In response to the developmental challenges facing the nation, Baafour Yaw Agyemang Ababio voiced concern over Ghana’s developmental shortcomings, attributing them to both politicians and traditional authorities. He opined that politicians are responsible for 70 percent of the country’s developmental issues, while traditional leaders account for the remaining 30 percent. He stressed that certain traditional leaders, who should be utilizing land sales to advance their communities, instead neglect this duty, leaving their communities underdeveloped.
