Ensure proper house keeping against fire to prevent domestic Fires – Ghanaians advised

Ghanaians have been urged to uphold exemplary housekeeping practices to avert domestic fires in our residences.

During an appearance on GIFTs FM Morning Show, G.O II Mrs. Anna Berma of the Education Unit at the Ghana National Fire Service, Dormaa Central fire station emphasized that curtains or any flammable materials should not obscure switches in a room, underscoring the importance of turning off and unplugging all electrical devices when departing for work.

She advised against leaving used matches on the floor, as children might attempt to ignite them, potentially leading to a fire outbreak. Furthermore, she stressed that anything capable of causing a domestic fire should be appropriately positioned and managed within our homes to prevent such incidents. She also warned against the simultaneous use of coal pots and gas cylinders in the same vicinity.

G.O II Mrs. Anna Berma warned against storing gas cylinders in bedrooms, a practice she noted could endanger one’s life due to its perilous nature in the event of an explosion.
