Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, the Member of Parliament for Assin South and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has vehemently denied allegations of a sexual relationship with transgender musician Angel Maxine.
In a statement on Thursday, Fordjour rejected Maxine’s claim that they had engaged in sexual intercourse, asserting, “Maxine, whether in her previous or present life, has never had such an interaction with me. I have never participated in any such act.”
He emphasized that his beliefs are in line with traditional views on relationships, describing them as being “ordained between Adam and Eve.”
The MP’s denial follows remarks made by Samuel Nartey George, the sponsor of the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025, during a clause-by-clause consideration of the bill by Parliament’s Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee in Accra. George, who is also the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, and a National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Ningo-Prampram, referenced the allegations in relation to the bill’s proposed measures.
George further pointed out that individuals who publicly identify as part of the LGBTQ community could face prosecution if the bill becomes law. He also raised concerns about social commentator Headucator, suggesting that he might be prosecuted under the bill for allegedly presenting himself as a member of the LGBTQ community and promoting such conduct.
The controversial Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, also known as the anti-LGBTQ Bill, aims to criminalize same-sex relationships and related advocacy. The bill has been referred to the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee, which has begun reviewing it clause by clause.
