The Member of Parliament for Builsa North, James Agalga, has been appointed as the new Majority Leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus in Parliament.
The appointment forms part of changes to the NDC’s parliamentary leadership structure following President John Dramani Mahama’s latest ministerial reshuffle.
Mr Agalga, a lawyer and former Deputy Minister for the Interior, takes over the leadership of the Majority side as the party moves to strengthen its representation and coordination in Parliament.
His appointment follows the nomination of Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga for the position of Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, creating the need for changes within the Majority leadership.
The Builsa North legislator brings years of parliamentary experience, having served in previous parliaments and contributed to debates on governance, security, and legislative matters.
The reshuffle also saw Klottey Korle MP Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings nominated as Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, while other ministers were reassigned to new portfolios.
The new parliamentary arrangement is expected to take effect as the NDC caucus works to align its leadership with the government’s agenda and legislative priorities.
