The Bechem branch of the Ghana National Fire Service has advised Ghanaians to as a matter of urgency visit the Ghana National fire service for certification and safety tips following the acquisition of building permits to initiate their construction processes.
Speaking to ADO 1 Clifford Ashie Teiko, the Second in Command of the Bechem Fire station in an Exclusive interview with High News, he stated that adhering to the LI 1724, 2003 – premises regulations Act is important to safeguard properties.
He explained that it ensures the engagement of the fire service for fire safety tips after the acquisition of building Permits and certification for construction works which according to him educate people on the need to provide lane or street in building to serve as a path for fire service and other security agencies in case of any emergency.
ADO 1 Clifford Ashie noted that the Duties of Ghana National Fire Service go beyond fighting fire alone indicating that they have a safety department that also deals with aspects of education and sensitization that seeks to create awareness of the people to prevent fire outbreaks.
He explained the need to provide paths and streets within buildings which according to him will save lives and properties in times of emergency adding that people must desist from building stores and houses on fire hydrants.
