Phillis Naa Koryoo Cuts Sod for Modern School Complex at Awutu Prisons Camp

A new chapter in education has begun at the Awutu Prisons Camp in Kasoa following a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a modern school complex aimed at improving access to quality education for children in the area.

The project, which will serve the children of prison officers as well as those from surrounding communities, is expected to provide a conducive learning environment and significantly improve educational infrastructure within the camp.

Speaking at the ceremony, Phillis Naa Koryoo emphasized the importance of investing in education, describing the project as a foundation for the future of the younger generation.

She noted that the school complex will not only reduce the long commute many pupils currently face but will also provide a safe and well-equipped environment that reflects the standards of modern educational facilities.

According to details of the project, the complex will function as a comprehensive educational hub catering for pupils from kindergarten through to the junior high school level.

The facility will include a Kindergarten (KG) block dedicated to early childhood development, a six-unit classroom block for primary education, and a three-unit classroom block for Junior High School students.

The project will also feature an administrative block with modern offices and a staff common room to support teachers and school management.

In addition, the design incorporates changing rooms and modern washroom facilities to ensure a healthy and dignified environment for pupils and staff.

Stakeholders at the event highlighted that education remains the bedrock of development, stressing that the new school complex will help create opportunities for children in the Awutu Prisons Camp and nearby communities.

Construction is expected to commence immediately and the project is scheduled to be completed within eight months.

The initiative is expected to transform education within the area and provide students with improved infrastructure to support their academic growth.
