Ghana’s inflation rate continued its downward trajectory in March 2026, decreasing to 3.2%, as reported by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS). This marks a slight dip from 3.3% in February 2026 and a sharp drop from 22.4% in March 2025, reflecting a substantial 19.2 percentage point decline over the year.

This is the lowest inflation rate recorded since the 2021 rebasing of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the 15th consecutive month of disinflation, beginning in January 2025. These figures signal continued macroeconomic stability for the country.

Price Movements

While the annual inflation rate has decreased, prices rose by 0.1% from February to March 2026, indicating modest month-to-month increases in the overall price level.

Food and Non-Food Inflation

Food inflation showed a continued decline, dropping to 2.3% in March from 2.4% in February. On a monthly basis, food prices decreased by 0.3%, providing some relief for consumers. On the other hand, non-food inflation saw a slight decrease to 3.9% in March from 4.0% in February. However, non-food prices rose by 0.3% month-on-month, reflecting upward pressure in other consumer sectors.

Goods vs Services Inflation

Inflation for goods experienced a significant slowdown, falling to 1.7% in March 2026, down from 3.2% in February. Notably, goods prices decreased by 1.0% month-on-month. Since goods represent nearly three-quarters of the CPI basket, this reduction has been a key factor contributing to the overall decline in inflation, offering notable relief to consumers.
