Ghana is witnessing a growing health challenge, with about four million (4,000,000) people currently living with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has revealed.
The Minister made the disclosure while discussing public health concerns, saying the need to increase awareness, regular medical check-ups, and healthier lifestyle choices to help prevent kidney-related diseases.
He cautioned that without early detection and proper care, CKD could lead to serious complications, including kidney failure, adding pressure to the nation’s healthcare system.
The Minister urged Ghanaians to adopt preventive measures such as staying hydrated, exercising regularly, and monitoring blood pressure and blood sugar levels he emphasized that this is a wake-up call for all Ghanaians. Early detection and lifestyle changes can make a significant difference.
