Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is set to face off against his compatriot Thomas Partey in the last 16 of the Europa League after Sporting Lisbon were drawn against English Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Sporting Lisbon progressed to the next stage of the tournament after defeating Danish side FC Midtjylland 5-1 on aggregate, while Arsenal secured a bye after finishing top of their group.

Issahaku, who was an unused substitute in Sporting’s previous game, will look to impress with a return to North London, having previously faced Tottenham in the UEFA Champions League. Meanwhile, Partey, who has been out with an injury for the past two weeks, is expected to return to action ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Leicester City this weekend.

The match promises to be a mouthwatering tie as Sporting Lisbon take on Arsenal at home in the first leg on Wednesday, March 8.
