Prophet Samuel Twumasi-Ankrah, Founder of Prophetic City Chapel and School of the Prophets and Impartation, has claimed that elections are won in the spiritual realm rather than at polling stations, challenging the common belief about the voting process.

In an interview on Kingdom FM monitored by locotvgh.com, Prophet Twumasi emphasized that each electoral contest is spiritually influenced. “We keep saying elections are won or lost at the polling station, but let me state it categorically, that elections are won in the spirit realm. Voting is a spiritual activity,” he explained, referencing the Bible to back his point. He noted that the heart of a leader lies in God’s hands, suggesting that divine intervention could change voters’ minds on election day, making elections a spiritually charged event.

This perspective contrasts sharply with recent comments from Professor Kobby Mensah, a lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), who argued that elections rely on academic analysis rather than prophecy. Addressing the November 5, 2024, U.S. election between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, Professor Mensah dismissed prophetic declarations in favor of academic scrutiny, noting that many prophecies are influenced by political party dynamics rather than genuine spiritual insight.

As debate swirls between spiritual and academic views on election outcomes, these contrasting perspectives highlight the diverse beliefs surrounding election influence within Ghana and beyond.
