Former President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate, held a significant meeting with religious leaders in Kumasi on Monday, November 11, 2024. This gathering in the Ashanti Region follows a similar event in Accra, demonstrating Mahama’s commitment to open dialogues with the clergy on the moral and spiritual aspects of his campaign.

The meeting, which felt almost like a rally, saw enthusiastic pastors and prophets showing support for Mahama’s potential return to office. In a move toward transparency, Mahama invited the clergy to voice their thoughts and concerns about his leadership vision.

One notable moment came when Prophet Razak, a respected figure in the Kumasi region, raised a question that had lingered unaddressed. He asked why Mahama had yet to reconcile with Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, the widow of former president Jerry John Rawlings. Nana Konadu, once a key figure in the NDC, had parted ways with the party to form her own political group, creating a lasting rift.

Prophet Razak shared that he felt spiritually compelled to broach the subject, stating, “Mr. Mahama, regardless of any past grievances, I believe you’re called to make peace with her.” He added, “If this reconciliation doesn’t happen, it could tarnish your legacy and impact your leadership bid.”
