Boni King Tackie Adama Latse II has sued King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Registrar of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, and the Electoral Commission regarding the election process for a new President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs.
King Tackie Adama Latse II is seeking the following:
1. An order directing the Defendants to prevent the 1st Defendant (King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II) from participating in the upcoming election until the legitimacy of the 1st Defendant as the Paramount Chief of the Ga State (Ga Mantse) is resolved.
2. An order directing the 2nd Defendant (Registrar of the Regional House) or any of its accredited agents to halt all preparations for any election affecting the affairs of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs (GARHC).
3. An order declaring that the Plaintiff qualifies as the Ga Mantse and is eligible to participate in the impending election.
4. An order directing the Electoral Commission to desist from conducting the impending election until the High Court’s order has been complied with by the National House of Chiefs.
5. Costs, including legal fees of GHS 500,000.00.
The Presidential Election was scheduled for Friday, 27th September 2024, following the demise of the President, Osudoku Matse, Nene Aadegbon Ngmogmowuyaa Kwasi Animle VI. However, the process was suspended due to an injunction initiated by elders from the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area against candidate King Nii Odaifio Welentsi III, the Regional House of Chiefs, and the Electoral Commission.
