Dormaa Central MP welcomes Attorney General’s dismissal of charges against Stephen Opuni, Seidu Agongo
The Dormaa Central Member of Parliament, Hon. John Kwame Adu-Jack, has hailed the dismissal of all charges against the former Ghana COCOBOD CEO, Dr. Stephen Kwabena Opuni, as a welcome news. Dr. Opuni, a native of Dormaa Ahenkro in the Bono Region, along with businessman Seidu Agongo, has seen all charges withdrawn by the Attorney-General, Dominic Ayine.
This announcement was made on Tuesday, January 28 at the Accra High Court, presided over by Justice Aboagye Tandoh.
Speaking on GIFTs FM Morning Show dubbed Anopa Bosuo, the Dormaa Central Member of Parliament expressed no astonishment at the news of the dismissal of all charges against the former Cocobod CEO. Stating that for nearly eight years, the NPP had accused him, yet failed to procure any evidence to substantiate their claims. He described it as a political witch-hunting emphasizing that this outcome is a welcome development for Ghanaians, particularly for the Bono Region and Dormaa Ahenkro.
Some inhabitants of Dormaa voiced their perspectives on the development, while others contested the outcome, advocating for a comprehensive investigation. Meanwhile, some welcomed the development, underscoring that the NPP lacked evidence against the former Cocobod CEO, which explains their inability to prosecute him during the seven-year trial Dr. Opuni endured.
