Dormaa Central MP and the Assembly have greatly contributed to healthcare progress in the Municipality – MCE discloses

The Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Dominic Adoma Ameyaw, has revealed that for the year 2025, significant developmental projects aimed at enhancing the health sector have been undertaken by the Member of Parliament, Hon. John Kwame Adu Jack, in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly under his leadership. These initiatives are designed to ensure effective healthcare delivery.

During his address at the 2025 Health Annual Performance Review held at the Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly Hall, the MCE highlighted a series of health infrastructure projects initiated by the Member of Parliament in 2025. These include the construction of a 30-bed capacity ward at Antwirifo Health Centre and a 15-bed capacity ward at Asikasu-Nsuhia Health Centre, as well as the completion of the previously unfinished maternity block project initiated by the former Dormaa Central MP at Asikasu-Nsuhia Health Centre. Furthermore, the Assembly has constructed two Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, complete with staff accommodations, at Duasidan and Besease. He emphasized that additional health infrastructure projects will be implemented in the coming years to facilitate quality healthcare delivery.

The MCE noted the importance of continuous improvements to meet evolving health needs, highlighting that the 25 health centers available in the municipality serve a diverse population and so the government’s objective is to strengthen these centers to provide comprehensive and quality healthcare, ensuring consistency in service delivery.

Hon. Dominic Adoma Ameyaw praised the Ghana Health Service for its Network of Practice (NoP) initiative, which is designed to decentralize healthcare and bring services directly to the people. He revealed that the Dormaa Central Municipal Health Directorate has launched the Danyame Network of Practice, with the Kofiasua Network of Practice soon to follow, in an effort to expand healthcare coverage within the Municipality. He highlighted that initiatives such as the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) exemplify the government’s commitment to community-centered healthcare, which has significantly improved access to maternal health services, immunization coverage, and health education.

He further emphasized the importance of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in healthcare delivery, which allows many Ghanaians to access healthcare services without the fear of incurring out-of-pocket expenses, thereby ensuring that financial hardship does not hinder access to essential health services.

He concluded that universal health coverage is crucial for fostering a just and equitable society, as it is founded on the principle of addressing needs rather than solely on the capacity to pay. This approach ensures that all communities, irrespective of their socio-economic status, have access to essential health services. Therefore, it is imperative to enhance universal health coverage to ensure inclusive healthcare provision.
