CLOGSAG Suspends Nationwide Strike   Following Government Appeal

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has decided to suspend its nationwide strike following a government appeal for more time to address the association’s concerns.

In a press briefing on Tuesday, Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe announced that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of CLOGSAG had agreed to halt the industrial action, giving the government a two-week period to resolve issues related to salary structures and conditions of service.

“The National Executive Committee of CLOGSAG, on 17th March 2026, reviewed the government’s appeal to call off the nationwide strike and grant them fourteen days to resolve the issues concerning the salary structure and conditions of service for our members,” Bampoe explained.

He also directed all members to return to work by Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

“Therefore, the strike is suspended, and all CLOGSAG members are expected to report to work by Tuesday, 24th March 2026,” he added.

However, despite suspending the strike, CLOGSAG has made it clear that it will not engage with the National Labour Commission (NLC), citing ongoing legal action against the Commission.

“We will not attend any meetings with the NLC, as we have already taken the Commission to court, and you will hear from us soon,” Bampoe stated.

The strike, which caused significant disruptions across various public sector institutions, was triggered by long-standing grievances regarding pay and working conditions. The temporary suspension is expected to restore operations while discussions continue.
