Central Municipal Assembly replaces collapsed Fire Tender with water bowser for temporal support

The Dormaa Central Municipal fire station, which also provides services to Dormaa East and West, has been without a functional fire tender for nearly six months. This situation has significantly hampered their ability to effectively combat fires during outbreaks.

In response, the Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dominic Adoma Ameyaw, announced the initiatives taken by the Municipal Assembly aimed at enhancing firefighting capabilities within the Dormaa Central Municipality. According to him, the Assembly has taken proactive steps by substituting the out-of-service fire tender with the Assembly’s water bowser, which is part of the DRIP machines, to temporarily assist the firefighters in addressing fire emergencies as required.

Hon. Ameyaw expressed that it is unsatisfactory for both the Assembly and the Ghana National Fire Service to remain inactive while properties are destroyed by fire due to the malfunctioning fire tender. He acknowledged the necessity for Dormaa to acquire a new fire tender following the failure of the existing one, but also recognized the challenges involved in obtaining one promptly.

Hon. Dominic Adoma Ameyaw revealed that he has engaged in extensive discussions with the Dormaa Central MP, Hon. John Jack, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Lawyer Joseph Addae Akwaboah, and the Nananom of the Dormaa Traditional Council, led by Osagyefo Oseadeayo Dr. Agyemang Badu II to ensure that Dormaa benefits from the initial allocation of fire tenders that the Ministry of the Interior is procuring for the nation.

He mentioned that the Dormaa Central Municipal Ambulance is currently out of service, and he is making significant efforts to secure a new ambulance to replace the outdated one, thereby improving emergency services within the municipality.

He also expressed concern regarding the non-payment of taxes by some private workers in Ghana. He took the opportunity to encourage Ghanaians to fulfill their tax obligations, as this is essential for the country’s development.
