The President of the United Fetish Priests Association, Nana Mosi Bansere, has issued a warning to Members of Parliament (MPs) considering voting against the Anti-Gay Bill currently before the House. Bansere threatened to lead a group of traditional fetish priests to storm Parliament and invoke curses on MPs with eggs and schnapps.

The United Fetish Priests Association believes that any decision by the Legislature to reject the Anti-Gay Bill would be a betrayal of Ghana’s culture and traditions. The Association has urged MPs to prioritize the interests of the nation over monetary gain.

Speaking to the media, Nana Mosi Bansere emphasized that Ghana’s culture, gods, rivers, dwarfs, ghosts, and other spirits strongly oppose LGBTQI+ practices. He reiterated that the United Fetish Priests Association would vehemently resist any attempt to legalize same-sex relationships in Ghana.

It is worth noting that Bansere had previously expressed disappointment at the government’s neglect of traditional priests in national events. In 2017, he predicted that same-sex marriage would be legalized in Ghana if religious groups failed to pray against it. Bansere suggested that the government excluded traditional priests from governance because they knew they would never support such acts.
