Andre Ayew Urges Ghana Black Stars to Secure Early Qualification for AFCON 2023
Ghana Black Stars’ captain, Andre Ayew, has called on his team to focus on securing early qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as they prepare for a crucial double-header against Angola. After an early exit from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the team had a change in technical leadership, with Chris Hughton taking over as head coach from Otto Addo.
The Black Stars are currently leading Group C with four points, having won against Madagascar and drawn with the Central African Republic. However, Angola, who also have four points, are keen to win both games against Ghana.
As Ghana’s captain, Ayew is well aware of the expectations of the team and is determined to lead his side to victory in both games this month.
Ghana’s clash against Angola promises to be a keenly contested encounter, with both teams seeking to take control of Group C. Ayew’s leadership and experience, having scored 24 goals in 113 appearances for the national team, will be crucial in securing two crucial victories against Angola and securing their place in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The first encounter will be hosted by Ghana on March 23, with the return leg in Luanda four days later.
