Christian Atsu was a talented football player who had the opportunity to play for some of the most prominent teams in world football, including FC Porto, Chelsea, Malaga, Newcastle, Everton, and Rio Ave, among others. Throughout his career, he demonstrated a commendable level of professionalism and never faced any disciplinary issues with any of the teams he played for.
Besides his club career, Atsu also played an essential role in Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars. Notably, he helped the team reach the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, where they lost in a penalty shootout against Ivory Coast. At the end of the tournament, Atsu was recognized for his excellent performance with both the Player of the Tournament and the Goal of the Tournament awards.
In addition, Atsu’s impressive skills on the field earned him a place in the Team of the Tournament for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, where Ghana finished fourth.
Beyond football, Atsu was a true Christian who devoted his time to charity work. He served as an ambassador for Arms Around the Child, an organization that supports disadvantaged children. Moreover, he paid for the bail of several Ghanaians who had been jailed for stealing food, showing his compassion and generosity towards his fellow citizens.
Condolences to all affected persons whose lives were touched by Atsu, both on and off the field.
