Residents of the Bolgatanga Municipality are expected to benefit from improved healthcare delivery following two major interventions by the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo. The MP has donated an ambulance to the Bolgatanga Municipal Health Directorate and also secured residential accommodation for doctors posted to the municipality. There is more in the following report filed by our Upper East Regional Correspondent, Joshua Asaah.
The ambulance, procured with Mr. Adongo’s personal resources, was handed over to health authorities during a ceremony in Bolgatanga. According to the MP, the decision was informed by the numerous challenges residents face in accessing ambulance services during emergencies.
Receiving the ambulance, the Acting Municipal Director of Health Services, Simon Effah Adjei, described the donation as timely and significant. Mr. Adjei noted that transportation delays remain a contributing factor to maternal and child deaths and expressed confidence that the ambulance would improve referrals and emergency response services.
In a related development aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery, the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has also secured residential accommodation for doctors posted to the municipality. The accommodation consists of two separate two-bedroom apartments intended to serve as temporary housing for newly posted doctors.
Speaking during the handing-over ceremony, Mr. Adongo explained that the intervention was inspired by concerns over the difficulty many medical professionals face in securing decent accommodation upon arrival in the municipality.
The Acting Municipal Director of Health Services, Simon Effah Adjei, said the accommodation would help attract and retain healthcare professionals in the municipality, especially at a time when government is recruiting critical health personnel.
