President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to leading Ghana based on the principles of integrity, unity and public service upheld by the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
The President made the pledge on Thursday, July 23, during a wreath-laying ceremony at Asomdwee Park in Accra to mark the 14th anniversary of the passing of the former President.
President Mahama said his administration will continue to prioritise the welfare of Ghanaians and protect the country’s democratic institutions.
Reflecting on his time as Vice President under Professor Mills, he said the late President’s humility, calm leadership and dedication to public service continue to guide his decisions.
He noted that preserving Professor Mills’ legacy goes beyond annual commemorations, stressing the need for continuous commitment to integrity in public office, respect for democracy, tolerance, compassion for the vulnerable and inclusive development.
President Mahama added that the late President’s vision of a peaceful, just and prosperous Ghana remains a work in progress and called on all citizens to contribute towards achieving that goal.
He pledged to continue governing with the values that defined Professor Mills’ presidency.
