Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has reassured Ghanaians that there is no cause for alarm over the Ebola outbreak, while highlighting government’s efforts to strengthen primary healthcare and tackle longstanding health sector challenges. He made the remarks in an interview on Hot Issues on TV3.

On primary healthcare, Akandoh revealed that 200 mobile health kiosks have been deployed across 150 districts to improve access at the community level. He also expressed confidence that the National Health Insurance Scheme can sustainably cover the costs of the Free Primary Healthcare policy.

The minister urged District Assemblies to ensure road access to Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and confirmed that President John Dramani Mahama has directed funding for the completion and operationalisation of 35 Agenda 111 hospital projects not included in the 2026 budget.

On accountability, Akandoh noted that cases from a recent report have been referred to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and the Attorney-General for action.
