Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has unveiled his final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ending weeks of speculation as the Black Stars gear up for football’s biggest tournament. The Portuguese tactician made his selection following an intensive training camp in Cardiff, where players competed for spots ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Two players from the provisional 28-man squad, goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi and striker Paul Reverson, narrowly missed out on making the final cut.

Queiroz also faced a late defensive setback after experienced centre-back Alexander Djiku was ruled out due to injury. Derrick Luckassen has been called up to fill the gap, highlighting the coach’s commitment to balancing experience with youthful energy as Ghana aim to make their mark at their fifth FIFA World Cup appearance.

In goal, Lawrence Ati-Zigi is expected to lead the line with support from Joseph Anang and Benjamin Asare. The defensive line features a mix of seasoned internationals and versatile talents, including Gideon Mensah, Alidu Seidu, Baba Abdul Rahman, and Derrick Luckassen, all set to play key roles against some of the world’s toughest attacking sides.

Midfield responsibility will largely fall on Thomas Partey, whose experience at the highest level is vital for stability and leadership. He will be joined by emerging stars, such as Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, who continues to develop into one of Ghana’s most exciting talents.

Up front, captain Jordan Ayew and Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo will spearhead the attack, bringing pace, skill, and experience that will be crucial as the Black Stars navigate a challenging group stage.

With the squad now confirmed, the countdown to the World Cup begins in earnest. Supporters’ expectations are high, and Queiroz will be hoping his carefully selected team can lead Ghana beyond the group stage for the first time since 2010.
