BKB’s Report
Seven candidates sitting for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), made up of six males and one female, were denied entry into an examination centre at Kasoa in the Central Region after arriving 40 minutes late for their Integrated Science paper.
The affected candidates, according to reports, were scheduled to write the examination at Odupong Senior High School, located at Jei River in Kasoa. However, the students said transportation challenges prevented them from arriving at the centre on time.
The candidates explained that they travelled from Spintex in Accra to Kasoa for the examination. During the journey, the vehicle transporting them reportedly developed a fault, forcing them to continue the trip by commercial vehicle, popularly known as “trotro.”
Despite their efforts to make it to the centre, the candidates reportedly arrived 40 minutes after the commencement of the paper and were subsequently denied entry into the examination hall by officials of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Officials at the centre cited examination regulations on lateness as the reason for refusing the students access to write the paper.
