Former Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has been named to FIFA’s Technical Study Group (TSG) for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. The TSG is tasked with providing advanced analysis of all matches while contributing to the global understanding and development of football.
The group, guided by FIFA Chief of Global Football Development Arsène Wenger, features an international lineup including Tobin Heath (USA), Jürgen Klinsmann (Germany), Jayne Ludlow (Wales), Michael O’Neill (Northern Ireland), Gilberto Silva (Brazil), Jon Dahl Tomasson (Denmark), Paulo Wanchope (Costa Rica), Aron Winter (Netherlands), Pablo Zabaleta (Argentina), and Otto Addo representing Ghana.
FIFA Senior Football Expert Pascal Zuberbühler and Lead of Football Performance Insights Tom Gardner will head the panel, supported by analysts, data engineers, and performance experts both on-site in Miami and Dallas and off-site in Manchester, UK. During the tournament, FIFA will share the most advanced metrics and performance data in World Cup history with global audiences, as well as participating teams and players. The Enhanced Football Intelligence service, developed by Wenger and FIFA’s FPI team, will provide unique in- and post-match visuals through augmented reality and traditional graphics.
“The Technical Study Group helps identify trends in the game, prepares future generations, and highlights the qualities players will need going forward,” Wenger said.
With access to six video angles and thousands of live data points, the TSG will analyse all 104 tournament matches from tactical positions at the stadium or their dedicated performance suite in Miami. Members will also select the winners of the tournament awards.
Fans will have unprecedented access to TSG insights for the first time through the FIFA Training Centre’s social media channels and YouTube, making technical analysis more interactive and engaging than ever.
