CLOGSAG Strike 2026: Civil Servants Demand Full Implementation of Agreed Salary Structure
The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has commenced a nationwide strike on March 9, 2026, following the government’s failure to fully implement a new salary structure and conditions of service agreed upon in 2023. Over 60,000 members across the country are withdrawing their services, which is expected to disrupt operations within the Civil Service and Local Government Service.

CLOGSAG Executive Secretary, Mr. Bampoe Addo, expressed frustration at the lack of progress despite previous talks with the government, including during the parliamentary vetting of the Labour Minister. He criticized the partial implementation of the new salary structure, which only benefited staff within the Finance Ministry, leaving the majority of civil servants without the agreed adjustments.
The union has made it clear that the strike will only end if the government fully honors the agreement. Mr. Bampoe Addo emphasized that the strike would continue until the issues are resolved, affecting administrative services across government institutions if not addressed.
