Ghana’s Black Stars defender, Gideon Mensah, is sure that the team is ready to take advantage if Sudan makes any mistakes in the final games of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ghana’s chances to qualify depend not only on their own games but also on how Sudan performs in their matches against Niger and Angola.
For Ghana to qualify for the AFCON tournament in Morocco, they need to win their remaining games against Angola on November 15 in Luanda and Niger on November 18 at the Accra Sports Stadium. At the same time, they are hoping that Sudan loses both of their matches. If Sudan manages to draw even one game, Ghana’s chances of qualifying will be gone.
“We are ready for this. The journey won’t always be easy. We have reached a point where we need to believe in ourselves and work hard,” Mensah said after the Black Stars’ first training session in Accra on Monday.
“We will watch the games and see what happens, but our main goal is to earn our six points. If anything happens on the side, we are prepared to handle it.”
Currently, Ghana is third in Group F with only two points from four games. They are ten points behind Angola and five points behind Sudan.
