During an interview on Adwuma Adwuma on Onua FM with Felicia Osei monitored by locotvgh.com, Sista Afia, a Ghanaian singer and songwriter, shared that becoming a musician in Ghana requires a strong mental fortitude due to the prevalence of depression.
Sista Afia, whose real name is Francisca Gawugah, emphasized that there are numerous obstacles that Ghanaian musicians must overcome, and the system can also be a hindrance. However, the ‘Jeje’ singer noted that she is not fazed by online bullying because she has developed a thick skin to insults and trolls from anonymous accounts.
She acknowledged that bullying can be demoralizing, but she advised people to be prepared and ignore hurtful comments. Sista Afia also disclosed that she grew up as a tomboy in Santasi and enjoyed fighting with the boys but would now only engage in fights for a considerable amount of money.
