World Children’s Day: Be cautious of what you post on the internet and social media platforms – children advised
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Abronoma Foundation, Mrs. Linda Nyarko Yeboah, has advised children to exercise caution regarding the information they share on the internet and social media platforms, as such data has a permanent presence and can impact individuals’ social well-being in the future.
Speaking in an interview on GIFTs FM Morning Show in celebration of World Children’s Day Yesterday, November 20, 2024, under the theme “Listen to the Future,” Mrs. Linda Nyarko Yeboah highlighted the permanence of information on the internet and social media. She stressed the importance for children, particularly girls, to exercise caution when sharing intimate or sensitive images that could compromise their privacy in the future. Furthermore, she encouraged children to concentrate on creating a brighter future by exploring all available career opportunities to contribute to a better world, rather than relying on men.
She remarked that mobile phones possess the power to elevate or diminish one’s standing, and that the internet has an unfaltering memory. Therefore, it is imperative for children to employ mobile phones and social media for constructive endeavors and refrain from sharing content that could jeopardize their future reputation.
Mrs. Linda Nyarko Yeboah implored parents and guardians to attentively listen to their children, granting them the opportunity to express their grievances, thereby facilitating solutions and guidance to aid in crafting a promising future. She emphasized that children deprived of parental affection often resort to seeking counsel from peers, which can occasionally result in the manifestation of undesirable behavior within society.
She ultimately advised all children to heed the counsel of their parents, teachers, and guardians to mold their lives, emphasizing that they must forge a bond with their books and prioritize learning above all else to prepare for a more promising future. She stated that securing a career positions them for a better future, therefore, the youth must think proactively and engage in craftsmanship and other employment opportunities for a brighter future.
